Tesla 's new car registrations in China climbed again in December to their highest level since March, despite a slowdown in the broader auto market. According to data from the China Automotive Industry Information Network, Tesla registered 6,643 vehicles in China in December, of which 30 were domestically produced Model 3. Tesla's Shanghai factory began delivering the first batch of new cars to employees at the end of December. This brings Tesla's total registrations in China to 42,715 last year, about 1.6 times more than the 16,360 registered in 2018. This achievement was achieved against the backdrop of a second consecutive year of decline in overall auto sales in China. Tesla delivered 367,500 vehicles worldwide in 2019, including 92,550 in the fourth quarter, according to the company. The company does not release sales data by region. |
