Apple accelerates localization of Siri in China by integrating Baidu Encyclopedia

August 19th, noon news: Apple's Siri voice assistant has been integrated with China's Baidu's "Baidu Encyclopedia" today, and the latter's content has been included in Siri search results.

Now, if you search for Chinese-specific terms such as "Jianbing Man", "Extreme Challenge", and "Sodium Cyanide" through Siri, Siri will present domestic localized results; if you search for questions such as "How to make Kung Pao Chicken", Siri will directly give a production tutorial including the ingredient list.

This integration extends to Apple's major systems: iOS devices with different screens such as iPhone or iPad, as well as Apple Watch smartwatches using Watch OS, can already see Baidu Encyclopedia results. Different screens are also optimized for display.

Sina Mobile Phones have been randomly tested, and currently Siri+Baidu Encyclopedia covers Chinese human geography, things, celebrities, hot topics, animals and plants, tourist attractions, and other domestic-specific vocabulary information.
Of course, because it has just been launched in China, there may be some shortcomings at present. I believe Apple will continue to debug and optimize it in the future.

At the end of July, Apple's third-quarter performance report this year showed that revenue in Greater China was US$13.23 billion, a significant increase of 112% from US$6.23 billion in the same period last year. iPhone sales in Greater China increased by 87% year-on-year. These figures have made the Chinese market receive special attention.
Previously, many of Apple's products had the problem of insufficient localization, but in the past two years they have been actively improving this problem, such as adding localized bus routes to iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan systems, as well as the "Apple Square" font for Chinese users.

The improvements are subtle, but they could help Apple's products continue to grow in China.
