China Association of Automobile Manufacturers: A brief overview of the operation of the automobile industry in May 2021

According to statistics and analysis by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in May 2021 , the production and sales of automobiles were 2.04 million and 2.128 million respectively , down 8.7% and 5.5% month-on-month , and down 6.8% and 3.1% year-on-year . Both month-on-month and year-on-year automobile production and sales declined.

From January to May 2021 , the production and sales of automobiles were 10.626 million and 10.875 million, up 36.4% and 36.6% year -on-year , respectively. The growth rate dropped by 17 percentage points and 15.2 percentage points compared with January to April .

In May 2021 , the production and sales of passenger cars were 1.617 million and 1.646 million, down 5.7% and 3.4% month-on-month , and down 2.7% and 1.7% year -on-year .

From January to May 2021 , the production and sales of passenger cars were 8.285 million and 8.437 million, up 39.1% and 38.1% year - on-year .

In May 2021 , the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 424,000 and 482,000 units, down 18.6% and 12.1% month-on-month , and down 19.7% and 7.4% year -on-year .

From January to May 2021 , the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 2.341 million and 2.438 million, up 27.8% and 31.9% year -on-year .

In May 2021 , the production and sales of new energy vehicles increased slightly month-on-month and continued to maintain rapid growth year-on-year. The production and sales were both 217,000 units , up 0.5% and 5.4% month-on-month , and up 1.5 times and 1.6 times year-on-year, continuing to refresh the historical record of the month.

From January to May 2021 , the production and sales of new energy vehicles both exceeded 900,000 units, reaching 967,000 and 950,000 units respectively, both increasing by 2.2 times year -on-year .

From January to May 2021 , the top ten auto sales companies accounted for 86.8% of the total auto sales . Among the top ten auto sales companies, compared with the same period last year, the sales of ten companies continued to grow rapidly, with Chery, Great Wall and Changan still having the most obvious growth rates.
