In May , industrial raw coal production above designated size turned from decline to growth, crude oil production grew steadily, and natural gas and electricity production fell. Taking May 2019 as the base period, the two-year average growth of raw coal, crude oil, and electricity production was generally stable, and natural gas production grew rapidly.

I. Production of raw coal, crude oil and natural gas and related information

Raw coal production turned from decline to growth. In May , 330 million tons of raw coal were produced, a year-on-year increase of 0.6% , a decrease of 1.8% in the previous month, an increase of 0.6 % over the same period in 2019 , and an average increase of 0.3% over the past two years. The average daily output was 10.53 million tons; 21.04 million tons of coal were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 4.6% .

From January to May , 1.62 billion tons of raw coal were produced, an increase of 8.8% year-on-year, 9.8% over the same period in 2019 , and an average increase of 4.8% over the past two years; 111.17 million tons of coal were imported, a decrease of 25.2% year-on-year.

The comprehensive transaction price of port coal continued to rise. On June 4 , the prices of 5500 , 5000 and 4500 kcal coal at Qinhuangdao Port were 768 yuan, 690 yuan and 611 yuan per ton, respectively, up 78 yuan, 72 yuan and 62 yuan from April 30 .

Crude oil production was stable and processing volume continued to grow. In May , 17.03 million tons of crude oil were produced, up 3.5% year-on-year, up 4.8 % year-on-year, and up 2.4% on average over the past two years, with an average daily output of 549,000 tons. 60.5 million tons of crude oil were processed, up 4.4% year-on-year, up 12.9% year-on - year, and up 6.2% on average over the past two years, with an average daily processing of 1.952 million tons.

From January to May , 82.65 million tons of crude oil were produced, a year-on-year increase of 2.2 % , an increase of 4.1% over the same period in 2019 , and an average increase of 2.0 % over the past two years; 292.74 million tons of crude oil were processed, a year-on-year increase of 12.0% , an increase of 10.8% over the same period in 2019 , and an average increase of 5.3% over the past two years.

Crude oil imports continued to decline, and international crude oil prices rose. In May , crude oil imports were 40.97 million tons, down 14.6% year-on-year; from January to May , crude oil imports were 220.54 million tons, up 2.3% year-on-year. On June 1 , the spot FOB price of Brent crude oil was US$ 70.03 per barrel, up 3.4% from US$ 67.73 per barrel on April 30 .

Natural gas production was basically stable. In May , 16.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas was produced, up 5.8% year-on-year, up 19.2% over the same period in 2019 , and up 9.2% on average over the past two years, with an average daily output of 540 million cubic meters.

From January to May , 87.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced, a year-on-year increase of 10.3% , an increase of 21.4% over the same period in 2019 , and an average increase of 10.2% over the past two years.

Natural gas imports maintained rapid growth. In May , 10.32 million tons of natural gas were imported, up 31.7% year-on-year. From January to May , 49.78 million tons of natural gas were imported, up 24.5% year-on-year.

2. Electricity Production

The growth rate of electricity production has slowed down. In May , electricity generation was 647.8 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 7.9% , an increase of 12.6 % over the same period in 2019 , and an average increase of 6.1% over the past two years. The average daily electricity generation was 20.9 billion kWh. From January to May , electricity generation was 3177.2 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 14.9% , an increase of 11.3% over the same period in 2019 , and an average increase of 5.5% over the past two years.

In terms of types, in May , the growth rate of thermal power fell, the growth rate of hydropower and nuclear power accelerated, solar power generation turned from decline to growth, and wind power maintained rapid growth. Among them, thermal power increased by 5.6% year-on-year, with May 2019 as the base period, and the average growth rate in two years was 7.3 % ; hydropower increased by 12.1% , and the average growth rate in two years was 3.3 % ; nuclear power increased by 10.2 %, and the average growth rate in two years was 12.2%; wind power increased by 20.7% , and the average growth rate in two years was 12.7% ; solar power generation increased by 8.7% , and the average growth rate in two years was 7.9% .
