Tesla's Berlin factory stopped construction due to arrears of water bills, and the person in charge resigned due to long construction delays

According to foreign media reports, an informed source revealed that the executive who oversaw the construction of Tesla's Berlin factory has resigned. The executive's name is Evan Horetsky, who is the head of engineering procurement and construction of the Berlin factory. As of press time, Tesla refused to comment at this time, and the media was unable to contact Horetsky himself.

Ivan Horsky's LinkedIn information shows that he was responsible for Tesla's global factory and energy project design, social work and project management.

It is reported that the construction progress of Tesla's factory in Berlin will not be affected by Holsky's departure.

The Berlin factory is Tesla's first factory built in Europe. Last November, Tesla announced the construction plan of the Grünheide Super Factory on the outskirts of Berlin. According to the plan, the factory will go into production in July 2021 to manufacture Tesla's Model Y model.

However, the lengthy environmental approval process has greatly delayed the construction plan of Tesla's Berlin factory in Germany, making its construction time much longer than the Shanghai factory, which took only 11 months from site selection to final production.

Earlier this month, Tesla held a three-day hearing to listen to the opinions of local citizens. Many locals are worried that the Tesla Gigafactory will consume a large amount of water resources in the area, especially after the battery is put into production, the water consumption level will increase significantly, and they asked Tesla to ensure that water consumption is limited.

At the hearing, Tesla agreed to reduce water consumption from 3.3 million cubic meters to 1.4 million cubic meters.

According to a report on October 16, Tesla's construction was terminated because it did not pay the water bill. After receiving the reminder, Tesla promised to pay the order, but the payment may have failed due to a network system failure. Tesla did not comment on the report.
