BYD responds to the collision result of the Dihan EV, suspecting that the car was tampered with

Recently, the automotive media DoCar.com released a new video, in which the popular BYD Han EV and BAIC Alpha conducted a 50% offset collision test at 64 km/h.

The test results showed that the BYD Han EV was severely damaged after the collision test, with problems such as the cab collapse, cracked welds, and deformed doors. In addition, although the circuit was powered off after the test, it still caught fire after being left idle for 48 hours. The video stated that the fire department determined that the fire was caused by a battery electrical circuit failure.

Afterwards, BYD’s official Weibo account responded to the test video, stating that the test methods and standards used in the collision video released by Autohome were non-mainstream and non-authoritative, and that there were many doubts in the content. It would arrange for technical personnel to conduct on-site inspections to eliminate any doubts.

In response, BYD mentioned that the coolant in the crashed vehicle was red, which was significantly different from the purple insulating coolant used in the mass-produced Han EV. The coolant in the test vehicle leaked after being replaced with a red conductive version, causing a short circuit in the circuit, which may be the reason why the crashed vehicle caught fire while standing still.

In addition, some netizens expressed doubts about several suspicious points in the video, such as the fact that the BYD Han EV participating in the collision test did not have a welcome trim, and that after sparks appeared on the Han EV after it had been standing in the warehouse for 48 hours, personnel immediately put out the fire with fire extinguishers, etc.

Whether there are human factors that interfere with the test results in the collision test of Dochedi may only be known after BYD conducts on-site inspection, and we will continue to pay attention to it.
