JAC Motors clarifies rumors of being a Xiaomi OEM, Xiaomi Motors, which just announced its "talent grabbing", has not yet landed

Since the high-profile announcement of Xiaomi's car manufacturing plan in March this year, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has frequently appeared in car companies and supply chain companies. He has left his mark in companies such as Bosch, CATL, Changan Automobile, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Great Wall Motor, and Dongfeng Motor.

Recently, there have been rumors online that Xiaomi cars will be manufactured by JAC Motors. This speculation is not without reason: JAC Motors has signed a manufacturing agreement with NIO since 2016 and has rich experience in manufacturing. It is precisely because of this that it has gradually turned losses into profits. In addition, Lei Jun is also an important shareholder of NIO. If Xiaomi and JAC can use the relationship with NIO, there will not be too many problems in communication.

However, soon, JAC Motors officially issued an announcement denying the news, saying that the two parties had never held discussions and had not reached any cooperation intentions.

So far, despite Lei Jun's frequent actions, Xiaomi Auto has not made any substantial progress, and has not even decided whether to outsource or build its own factory. Xiaomi undoubtedly has the strength to build its own factory, which is also more conducive to Xiaomi's overall control of the car. But on the other hand, if it chooses outsourcing, with the help of the car company's years of experience, Xiaomi Auto's production efficiency will undoubtedly be higher, and it will also be able to avoid many detours. In this regard, some analysts suggest that Xiaomi should first produce a concept car and then determine the specific production method.

Although the production method has not yet been determined, Xiaomi has not stopped building a team. On July 28, Lei Jun publicly "recruited" people on Weibo, announcing that Xiaomi's autonomous driving department will recruit 500 relevant talents.
