iPhone 6 fingerprint recognition has a loophole: fake fingerprints can unlock the phone

Security Research Labs from Berlin, Germany recently discovered that the fingerprint recognition function on Apple's latest mobile phones, the iPhone 6/6 Plus, has not been upgraded compared to the previous generation and can still be fooled by fingerprint film, posing a security risk.

Touch ID fingerprint recognition is a new feature launched by Apple on iPhone 5s. Different from the previous sliding fingerprint recognition, it adopts a press-type recognition method, which has a faster unlocking response than its competitors and provides a better user experience.

Last year, some industry insiders questioned the Touch ID function of iPhone 5s and used fingerprint film to verify it.

After the new generation of iPhones were released, Security Research Labs used an iPhone 6 to conduct a test. Then they posted the test video on YouTube. In the video, we can see that the security risk still exists and the fingerprint film can still pass the verification.

This means that Apple may not have upgraded the Touch ID sensor. In the new generation of iPhones, Apple has added the Apple Pay mobile payment function. After opening the port, some third-party iOS applications can also be opened through it. The harm of this vulnerability may be more serious than before.
