Huawei Chairman: Android is still the first choice. Whether Hongmeng will be used in mobile phones has not yet been determined.

On July 12, at Huawei's "2018 Sustainability Report" press conference, when talking about the Hongmeng system, Huawei Chairman Liang Hua said that this is an operating system developed for the Internet of Things, and whether it will be developed into a mobile phone system has not yet been determined.

Liang Hua said that Hongmeng system was developed for the Internet of Things and is used in low-latency scenarios such as autonomous driving and telemedicine. Huawei mobile phones still use the open Android system and ecosystem as their core. If the United States does not allow Huawei to use Android, it is not yet certain whether Huawei will develop Hongmeng into a mobile phone system.

Previously, Ren Zhengfei said in an interview with foreign media that, first of all, the Hongmeng system was not created for mobile phones, but for the Internet of Things, such as autonomous driving and industrial automation, because it can accurately control the delay to less than five milliseconds, or even reach the millisecond to sub-millisecond level.

Second, we hope to continue to use the global public and open mobile phone operating system and ecosystem, but if the United States restricts our use, we will also develop our own operating system. The most important thing about the operating system is to establish an ecosystem, and it will take about two to three years to rebuild a good ecosystem.

There have been recent rumors that Huawei will release the Hongmeng operating system at the 2019 Developer Conference which will open on August 9.

Earlier, Yu Chengdong said that Huawei's self-developed operating system would be released as early as this fall or at the latest next spring. At that time, Yu Chengdong said, "If Android applications are recompiled, the running performance on this operating system will be improved by more than 60%."

He said that this system connects mobile phones, computers, tablets, TVs, cars, smart wearable devices, etc., unifying them into one operating system that is compatible with all Android applications and all Web applications.
