The report is based on 24,301 qualified samples and uses the number of failures per 100 vehicles (PPH) as the core indicator. It evaluates the quality of new passenger cars in 2024 from multiple dimensions, providing an important reference for consumers to purchase cars and automakers to improve their products.

1. Overall quality performance of the industry

Brand nature dimension: Overseas imported cars have the best quality performance, with an average PPH of 125; overseas domestic cars and Chinese brands are second, with PPHs of 147 and 158 respectively. The quality performance of many brands such as Mazda and Citroen is higher than the market average, among which Lexus and Hongmeng Zhixing have performed well for three consecutive years.

Energy type dimension: The overall quality performance of new energy vehicles is similar to that of non-new energy vehicles, but in the electronic equipment dimension, new energy vehicles perform better, and in the functional operation dimension, non-new energy vehicles have an advantage. Compared with 2023, except for the transmission system, the PPH values ​​of new energy vehicles in all dimensions have decreased, and the quality performance of non-new energy vehicles in all nine dimensions has improved.

Level market dimension: In 2024, small cars and large cars performed well, but there were more complaints about the quality of large cars. The quality of other car types and levels improved, with MPVs improving the most significantly.

Country dimension: French brands have outstanding quality performance and have improved significantly. Chinese brands, German brands, etc. also have their own quality performance and changing trends.

2. Distribution of major quality issues: The top three dimensions in which consumers encounter the most problems are driving, electronic equipment, and interior. The main problems during driving include excessive tire noise and wind noise; electronic equipment problems are concentrated in voice recognition systems and Bluetooth phone pairing; interior problems include abnormal noises from the center console and odors in the interior.

3. Quality performance of each brand and market segment

Chinese brands: Hongmeng Intelligent Driving, Weilai, Li Auto and other brands ranked high in quality. Among new energy vehicles, Hongmeng Intelligent Driving and Weilai performed outstandingly; in the field of fuel vehicles, Lynk & Co and Geely Automobile performed well. In addition to common problems such as driving process and electronic equipment, the main quality problems also involved abnormal noise when braking and insufficient wipers.

Domestic brands of overseas brands: Tesla, Mazda and other brands have higher quality than the average level of the market segment. Among luxury brands, Tesla, Cadillac and others performed well; among mainstream brands, Mazda, Citroen and others performed well. Common quality problems include excessive tire noise, odor in the interior, and problems with mobile phone interconnection mapping connection.

Imported overseas brands: Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz are ranked top in quality. The main quality issues include excessive tire noise, abnormal noise when braking, and low recognition rate of voice recognition system.
