iOS 12.1.1 is officially released: Do you want to try the new features?

Apple released the official version of iOS 12.1.1 on Thursday, which is the third upgrade of the iOS 12 operating system since its official release in September this year. Simply put, iOS 12.1.1 is a small update after iOS 12.1. In comparison, iOS 12.1 is a larger update, which brings new features such as FaceTime group chat.

Currently, all devices that can run iOS 12 can upgrade iOS 12.1.1 via OTA in Settings – General – Software Update. The update size is 423.7MB. Here are the complete update notes for iOS 12.1.1:

iOS 12.1.1 brings new features and bug fixes to iPhone and iPad. Features and improvements include:

• Use haptic feedback to preview notifications on iPhone XR
• iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max support dual SIM cards with more carriers via eSIM
• During a FaceTime call, switch between front/rear cameras with a single tap
• Live Photos during one-on-one FaceTime calls
• iPad and iPod touch support Real-Time Text (RTT) during Wi-Fi calling
• Improves stability of Dictation and VoiceOver

Bug fixes include:

• Fixed an issue where Face ID might temporarily not work
• Resolved an issue where some customers were unable to download Visual Voicemail
• Fixes an issue in Messages where predictive text suggestions might not appear when typing with a Chinese or Japanese keyboard
• Resolves an issue that could prevent Voice Memos recordings from being uploaded to iCloud
• Fixed an issue where the time zone might not update automatically

This update also brings new features and bug fixes to HomePod, including:

• Support Mainland China and Hong Kong
• HomePod will light up the LED indicator during a Group FaceTime call

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the iOS 12.1.1 system, Apple also released macOS Mojave 10.14.2, tvOS 12.1.1 and HomePod 12.1.1 software updates, but the watchOS 5.1.2 update was not released together. Previous reports showed that the update will enable the ECG electrocardiogram function.
