There are really no new features to add, so Android 12 has to add a "Recycle Bin" feature

The mobile phone operating system has developed to the point where there are actually no more functions to be explored. Therefore, even a strong iOS or various domestic UIs add some boring and insignificant small functions in the new version of the system. It is better to change the wallpaper to give users a sense of freshness. Google's native Android has reached version 12 this year, and it is inevitable that it is also seriously involuted, but some developers have discovered that Android 12 will add a trash bin function.

Although everyone is confused about the English word "trash bin", once it is replaced with the Chinese translation of "Recycle Bin" (Mac users use "Trash Can"), it will suddenly become clear. That is, after deleting some files, the system does not delete them immediately, but puts them in a certain location and temporarily marks them as deleted files. You need to further manually empty them to actually delete them and release the storage space. However, if you regret it, you can also restore the files. In fact, Google did not officially introduce this new feature of Android 12. It was first discovered by XDA-Developers.

What’s interesting is that foreign media The Verge mentioned that in fact, in the previous version of Android 11, Google had already added an API that “only hides but does not actually delete”, but not many apps used it. So now Google may be thinking about pushing developers to use it on Android 12, and their own file manager is currently one of the few apps that supports this API.

However, this function of preventing accidental deletion of files and photos has long been available in file managers and albums of some domestic UIs. Even in the conservative iOS, its photo app puts the files into the deletion folder first and then clears them after 30 days. So there are really no new features in Android 12. In order to show that they are not slacking off, the developers have to add something useful or useless. However, as mentioned at the beginning, this is actually a common phenomenon in today's operating systems.
