Alipay launches “Swipe Password”: a safer and more convenient way for visually impaired users

On August 23, Ant Group’s consumer rights protection special project “Ant 315” stated that in order to continuously facilitate visually impaired users, Alipay launched the “Swipe” password, which effectively avoids problems such as passwords being read aloud or slow input in the past. It is more secure and convenient, and has been piloted to connect to the Alipay automatic phone bill recharge scenario.

It is reported that there are more than 17 million visually impaired people in my country. It is the platform responsibility of Internet companies to bridge the digital divide and allow disadvantaged groups to enjoy the development dividends of the digital age. Although Internet products are constantly undergoing barrier-free transformation, traditional digital passwords and gesture passwords are still inconvenient for visually impaired users. For example, digital passwords are leaked when read aloud, input is slow, and the nine-point gesture password needs to find the position on the screen.

After activating the "Swipe" function, users can simply draw their own graphic password, and the graphic track will disappear as soon as it is drawn.

Tao Ye, product manager of Ant Group's digital identity team, introduced that to address these concerns, Alipay launched a new "swipe" identity authentication method. Users enter a pattern in advance in the Alipay Security Center, and then swipe the corresponding pattern on the screen when they need to enter a password. It is convenient and fast to operate.

At the same time, the product also focuses on the privacy and security of users. The graphics disappear as soon as they are drawn, and cannot be spied on or imitated by others. At the same time, the product comprehensively analyzes the similarity of graphics and touch operation habits, so that accidental touch verification will not occur.

At present, this new identity authentication method has been piloted in the "Alipay - Automatic Phone Recharge" scenario. As long as the visually impaired user has activated the "Swipe and Swipe" verification method, the "Swipe and Swipe" verification method will be given priority when signing the automatic recharge contract.

"The product functions need to be continuously improved, and we welcome users to give us feedback on improvement suggestions after use. In the future, we will expand to more password verification scenarios. At the same time, we are also trying to solve other verification methods that bother visually impaired users, such as the slider verification commonly used in human-machine verification, and strive to make it equally convenient and safe for everyone to use Alipay." Tao Ye said. "Of course, this product is suitable for all users, and visually impaired users will have a better experience."

Since the beginning of this year, Ant Group has launched "Ant 315" to protect the rights and interests of consumers, with a focus on the needs of the visually impaired and the elderly . Previously, Alipay has launched a senior mode with large font size and no marketing to facilitate operation by the elderly.
