The six new features of iTunes Connect (latest news from the App Store!)
iTunes Connect is constantly being updated, and this year is no exception. At the iTunes Connect session of WWDC, Apple introduced the latest news about the upcoming revision. Let’s explain them one by one below. Feature 1 Enhanced in-app purchase feature Implementation time: Fall 2016 Details: Auto-renewable in-app purchases will be available for the categories used. Each region can be assigned an independent pricing strategy. When the price changes, developers can choose to let old users continue to use the original price, or use the new price. IAP will also have promotional codes. The entrance is at the bottom of the App promotional code. A total of 100 promotional codes are allowed, and developers can distribute them freely.

Feature 2 Enhanced iTunes Connect mobile app experience Implementation time: Already implemented Since this is not used much, I will not elaborate on it.  Feature 3: Add “Number of impressions” in “App analysis” Implementation time: Already implemented Details: As you can see in the iTunes Connect backend, Apple has now begun to provide impressions, and the original "App Store views" has been renamed "Product page views", and Apple has added the option of independent access devices for these two data. Therefore, the entire front-end funnel data has been connected, that is, impressions -> product page views -> App purchases. These data will be very useful for those who are engaged in fine operations .

I would also like to answer another question. In theory, the number of installations should be greater than the number of App purchases, but why is this not the case sometimes when viewed in the iTunes Connect backend? This is because only the installation volume information of users who choose to share their data will be displayed, and the users who are willing to share their data are actually only a small number. This involves Apple's corporate privacy policy and there is no way to change it. Feature 4: Added "Apps" to the "Source" module of App Analysis . Implementation time: end of 2016 Details: In the new version of App Analysis, Apple will provide App source data, as shown in the figure below. The indicators displayed from left to right are: number of impressions, App purchases, sales and number of App usages.

And provide pie charts to help developers intuitively understand the comparison of the three sources in all dimensions

Feature 5 : Simplified screenshot upload process Implementation time: late summer 2016 Details: Currently, a set of screenshots (including videos, for simplicity, collectively referred to as screenshots) must be uploaded for each device of different sizes. If you take into account the localization of 28 languages, iPhone + iPad, the workload is staggering.

From now on, you only need to upload a set of screenshots for each device type (iPhone, iPad and Watch), and the system will automatically generate screenshots of different sizes and multiple languages for you.

In addition, a new "Media Manager" module is added to manage screenshots. After entering this module, you can see screenshots of different sizes and multiple languages automatically generated by different systems. Any adjustments to the main screenshots will automatically affect other groups. If you want to make manual adjustments for any size and multiple languages, there is no problem. As shown in the figure below, just uncheck the box on the right.

This feature is great and can greatly reduce everyone's workload.  Feature 6 : Add iMessage Apps categories Implementation time: Before autumn 2016 Details: Add a separate iMessage Apps category. Developers can use the media manager to manage screenshots of these apps. The specific operations are the same as above, so there is no need to repeat them. However, this change reflects the importance Apple attaches to the iMessage App. As I mentioned in "Looking at WWDC from the Perspective of Apple's Ten Zodiac Characteristics", this is the first time that Apple has tried to build a super platform within a country, and it attaches great importance to space. Finally, Apple explained the changes to Guideline, which are reflected in the following four aspects:

  • It is more readable. Different from the strong wording in the past (forbid to do this, do that), the revised guide is more like a checklist, focusing on guiding developers on how to launch an excellent App.
  • Localization, in addition to English, Apple has localized into 10 multiple languages.
  • Integrated with the MacOS guide.
  • The content has been reorganized into 5 modules and presented in the form of a comic book.

Conclusion: Apple’s actions in the guide reflect its good intentions and softening attitude. Perhaps in the future everyone will see Apple’s increasingly friendly side. It can be seen that Apple is gradually becoming more open!
