Pilots are not allowed to have scars, but why can injured pilots continue to fly?

As we all know, the medical examination for pilots is very strict. Even the slightest defect will be screened out, such as scars! At this point, some people may ask, those pilots who were injured in an accident while flying a fighter plane and ejected also have scars. Why can they stay in the blue sky?

Let's analyze why pilots with scars cannot be pilots. First of all, in the sky, the atmospheric pressure is lower than the air pressure on the ground. When pilots fly from the ground to high altitudes, the blood pressure in the human body will be released outwards, so the scars on the body will cause secondary damage due to the air pressure.

Secondly, since today's fighter jets all fly at supersonic speeds, pilots are affected not only by air pressure but also by gravity, which is the gravitational acceleration in physics. These two pressures make it impossible for pilots to have any scars.

After talking about the disadvantages, let’s talk about the protective measures. In fact, it is the protective clothing worn by pilots. In the eyes of scientific researchers, these two kinds of pressure are not a problem at all. They can be solved by a set of protective clothing!

Today's pilot protective clothing is comparable to astronaut protective clothing, such as the pressurized protective clothing on the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft, which is basically unaffected by atmospheric pressure at high altitudes. Moreover, the cockpit of the fighter is airtight, so even if there is a leak, there is an oxygen mask to protect it, which is why we often see pilots wearing oxygen masks.

It doesn't mean that pilots cannot have any scars. Generally speaking, it depends on the specific individual situation. Even if they have undergone major surgery, as long as they pass the ground inspection, they can still become a fighter pilot again.

In fact, scars or not is not a big problem for pilots. It is just like people with myopia cannot serve in the army, but there are people with myopia among the soldiers. After all, training a pilot is not a simple matter!
