Sending Poverty Out

"On the sixth day of the first lunar month, the God of Poverty is sent away." On this day, a general cleaning is done, and all garbage before the fifth day of the first lunar month is cleared out of the house. This is called "sending away the God of Poverty."

Get up early and clean the house for a good start in the new year, send away the plague, diseases, worries and bad luck!

Good luck in opening the market

According to traditional customs, the sixth day of the first lunar month is the day to "open the market". Merchants of all sizes put up red couplets with the words "Good luck in opening the market, everything will go smoothly". A basin of oranges is placed at the door, as "orange" and "good luck" are homophones, which indicates good luck.
