China Association of Automobile Manufacturers: Brief analysis of passenger car production and sales in March 2022

In March 2022 , the production and sales of passenger cars were 1.881 million and 1.864 million, up 22.4% and 25.1% month-on-month , and down 0.1% and 0.6% year -on-year .

In January-March 2022 , the production and sales of passenger cars were 5.499 million and 5.545 million, up 11.0% and 9.0% year-on - year .

In March 2022 , among the main types of passenger cars, compared with the previous month, the production and sales of the four major types of passenger cars all increased, among which the growth rate of multi-purpose passenger cars ( MPVs ) and crossover passenger cars was more obvious; compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of crossover passenger cars showed rapid growth, basic passenger cars (sedans) increased slightly, and the production and sales of other types both declined.

From January to March 2022 , among the main types of passenger cars, the production and sales of multi-purpose passenger cars (MPVs ) both declined compared with the same period last year, while the production and sales of the other three types of passenger cars continued to grow.

In March 2022 , the sales volume of domestically produced high-end brand passenger cars reached 273,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 14.3 % , which was a greater decline than the overall passenger car sales.

From January to March 2022 , the sales volume of domestically produced high-end brand passenger cars reached 929,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 7.4 % , which was 1.6 percentage points lower than the overall passenger car sales .
