Continental eHorizon technology adds traffic light assistance function

Continental demonstrated a traffic light assistance function during the Los Angeles Auto Show. It is reported that this function will be used in conjunction with Continental's dynamic eHorizon technology based on the cloud platform.

According to Continental, the traffic light assist function receives and processes real-time updated data from sensors and traffic information sources of other cars on the road through eHorizon technology, so that it can predict when the next traffic light ahead will turn red. eHorizon can calculate based on dynamic changes in road conditions, such as traffic light signals, road congestion, traffic accidents and weather conditions, in order to achieve energy-saving effects.

It is understood that Johann Hiebl, Executive Vice President of Infotainment and Connectivity Business at Continental, will lead a navigation technology expert group to focus on how Continental can use the data collected by the cloud platform to predict the conditions of the road ahead. It is believed that in addition to navigation and road condition warning, eHorizon technology will be applied to more other purposes in the future.
