German authorities demand recall of 60,000 Audis as emissions scandal spreads

According to a report by Russian Satellite Network on the 7th, Audi was again asked by German authorities to recall 60,000 Audi A6 and A7 cars worldwide due to the "emissions scandal". Earlier reports said that the authorities suspected that Audi had installed illegal emission control software on these two models of cars.

It is reported that 60,000 3.0-liter A6 and A7 diesel engine vehicles will be recalled worldwide, of which 33,000 are affected in the German market.

The United States previously accused Volkswagen Group of installing cheating software in its diesel vehicles that can modify the actual emission of harmful substances. The US government subsequently ordered the group to recall 482,000 Volkswagen and Audi brand vehicles sold to the US market between 2009 and 2015. In April this year, the group reached an agreement to buy back the vehicles from the owners and compensate them.

But British media reported, citing recent test results, that almost all diesel cars are still as polluting as before. Diesel cars produced in 2016 and 2017 after the Volkswagen scandal still produce nitrogen oxides four to five times higher than EU regulations allow.
