Model S loses crown in U.S. electric car sales ranking in October

In October, the sales of electric vehicles (including hybrid vehicles) in the United States exceeded 10,000 units, up 9% year-on-year, setting a record for electric vehicle sales in October. Relevant analysis shows that with the launch of popular models such as the Chevrolet Bolt and Toyota Prius Prime, the sales of electric vehicles in the US market in December is expected to exceed 20,000 units, and the sales of electric vehicles in the US in 2016 will set a new record.

In October, Tesla released its self-driving hardware, and the sales of Tesla Model S slowed down. Chevrolet Volt took over and became the best-selling electric car in October. In the first 10 months, Tesla Model S won with 20,917 sales.

In October, three models sold more than 1,000 units: Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf and Ford Fusion Energi. In the first 10 months, the models with sales exceeding 10,000 units were: Tesla Model S e), Chevrolet Volt, Ford Fusion Energi, Tesla Model X e), and Nissan Leaf.

By brand, Tesla is far ahead, accounting for 28%, Chevrolet accounts for 18%, and is slightly ahead of third-place Ford, which accounts for 1%.
