Geely and AutoNavi announced cooperation, Geely cars will be equipped with high-precision maps

At the Alibaba 2018 Global Investor Conference held on September 17, Alibaba partner and AutoNavi Map President Liu Zhenfei revealed that AutoNavi and Geely have reached a comprehensive cooperation in the field of high-precision maps. This means that Geely will use the high-precision maps provided by AutoNavi, becoming the second vehicle manufacturer to cooperate with AutoNavi after SAIC-GM.

As early as December 3, 2015, AutoNavi Group reached a strategic cooperation with Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. In March 2018, AutoNavi Maps said that it and Geely Auto will conduct in-depth exploration in the fields of in-vehicle navigation, location services, traffic big data and Alibaba ecosystem.

All Geely Auto models, represented by the 2018 Boyue, will be equipped with the latest AutoNavi car version, which provides navigation services for driving scenarios, including real-time traffic conditions, congestion avoidance, one-box smart search, 3D navigation guidance, intersection magnification, traffic restriction information, eagle-eye mini-map, traffic event viewing, celebrity navigation voice, mobile phone interconnection, one cloud and multiple screens, etc.

In addition, based on the Geely smart ecosystem, AutoNavi and Geely have jointly developed navigation services and provided in-depth personalized customization for smart travel.

According to Geely's autonomous driving plan announced in 2017, Geely will be divided into four technical stages from G-Pilot 1.0 to G-Pilot 4.0, and will achieve highly autonomous driving after 2020. Among them, G-Pilot 3.0 will realize the driver's hands-free autonomous driving experience, and G-Pilot 4.0 will give the driver a completely liberated, sophisticated and reliable autonomous driving experience.

In intelligent driving, vehicles must accurately perceive the driving environment and respond in a timely manner to ensure the safety and reliability of the driving system. As a special "sensor", high-precision maps are not affected by factors such as weather and light detection distance, thus breaking through the effective distance of conventional sensors and achieving beyond-visual-range perception. The use of high-precision maps provided by AutoNavi will help Geely accelerate its development in the field of autonomous driving.
