Windows 8.1 Update is a prerequisite for keeping your Windows 8.1 device updated. You need to install it first before you can get updates pushed by Windows Update from May 13. Users who have enabled automatic updates do not need to worry. Before May 13, the system will automatically install Windows 8.1 Update. If you do not enable automatic updates and do not install Windows 8.1 Update before May 13, you can only see Windows 8.1 Update in Windows Update, and you will not see other system updates released by Microsoft until you install Windows 8.1 Update. In a nutshell, before May 13, Windows 8.1 users must upgrade to Windows 8.1 Update, otherwise your system will face security risks. Windows 8 users who have not upgraded to Windows 8.1 are not affected by the above.
