Tesla acquires battery manufacturing company Hibar, paving the way for independent battery production

Recently, foreign media reported that Tesla has acquired Hibar, a Canadian battery manufacturing equipment and engineering technology company, which may lay the foundation for independent battery production in the future.

Although there is no information about the transaction at present, we still found that Tesla has listed Hibar as its subsidiary in the registration documents submitted to Canada's federal lobbying agency.

As early as July, we did not see Hibar listed as a Tesla subsidiary, but in October, Hibar had become a Tesla subsidiary, which means that Tesla acquired Hibar within these four months. Currently, Hibar's official website has been closed, replaced by a website under Tesla's name.

According to information on the Internet, Hibar is a manufacturer specializing in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, laptops and electronic devices.

In addition, Tesla had already begun secretly building a research and development laboratory in June in an attempt to develop its own battery technology to get rid of the control of third-party battery suppliers. This timing coincides with Hibar being listed as a subsidiary of Tesla.
