Baidu releases a car robot with L5 autonomous driving capabilities, which is officially claimed to be safer than human driving

On August 18, Baidu held its 15th "Baidu World Conference". At the opening session of the event, Baidu CEO Robin Li proposed the concept of "automobile robots" and demonstrated the first Apollo auto robot.

From the outside, the car robot integrates automatic gull-wing doors, a full glass roof and external sensors, which is very futuristic and technological. Inside, the car robot has no steering wheel or pedals, but instead has intelligent configurations such as an ultra-large curved screen, a smart console, dimming glass, and zero-gravity seats.

According to Baidu's official introduction, the Apollo car robot has L5 autonomous driving capabilities, which not only does not require human driving, but is even safer than human driving. Secondly, the car robot also has multi-modal interaction capabilities such as voice and face recognition, and can analyze users' potential needs. Finally, the car robot can also continuously upgrade through self-learning and can be used to serve various scenarios.

Li Yanhong said: "Automobile robots are different from the cars that everyone imagines. In fact, they will be more like robots, and this will also be the direction of automobile evolution in the future."

Baidu has been working on autonomous driving for many years. As of the first half of this year, Apollo driverless taxis have received more than 400,000 passengers and have traveled more than 14 million kilometers. At the Baidu World Conference, Baidu also launched a new driverless car travel service platform "LuoBoKuaiPao", where users can use the App to book a taxi. This service has been launched in Beijing, Guangzhou, Changsha and Cangzhou.
