Samsung has officially entered the health and fitness space with the Galaxy S5, and one of the main selling points of the device is the built-in heart rate sensor. The new feature allows users to monitor their heart rate using the pre-installed S Health app, which is a very useful marketing feature, but in fact there is nothing special about it. According to the official page of the Samsung Galaxy S5, this phone is the world's first mobile phone with a built-in heart rate sensor, but in fact any device with a camera and flash can provide this feature. The sensor on Samsung's new Gear smartwatch is better in terms of function, but there are no surprises on the Galaxy S5. The built-in heart rate sensor in the Galaxy S5 is not much different from many third-party apps that use LED flash and camera to read the user's heart rate. Recently, a foreign user used an iPhone 5s with the heart rate test app Runtastic to compare it with the Galaxy S5. Using the built-in heart rate sensor of the Galaxy S5 and the Runtastic app on the iPhone 5s, after multiple tests, it was found that the readings of both devices did not exceed 5BPM. This also means that the built-in heart rate sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S5 has no practical significance.
