Is Microsoft taking a risky move to use Android to save Windows?

Now, according to Tom Warren, senior editor of foreign media TheVerge, the release date of the Windows 10 consumer preview is January 21, and Microsoft will also hold a Win10 consumer conference. More importantly, Tom Warren also said that Windows 10 will support Android applications.

In fact, it is not technically difficult to run Android on Windows. Using a virtual machine can achieve quite good results. Android's compatibility with the x86 architecture processors commonly found on PC devices is also increasing. There are also many Android devices on the market that use x86 processors.

But if Windows 10 really supports Android applications, Microsoft's move is still a bit confusing. After all, Android-oriented mobile devices and Windows-oriented PCs are different in usage scenarios and interaction methods. Except for some Windows tablets that have not received much market response, there is not much point in using Android applications on ordinary PCs. Moreover, most Android applications are not the same as the purpose of people choosing Windows devices. They are not tools to provide productivity.

Of course, some people also speculate that this is Microsoft preparing for the next generation of Windows Phone products. After all, the future Microsoft mobile platform may be collectively called Windows like the PC. At this stage, the virtual button design of WP phones is somewhat similar to that of Android devices. The huge Android ecosystem can also make up for the remaining shortcomings of the Windows Phone system to a certain extent.

But on the other hand, if Windows Phone leverages Android, it will become another copy of BlackBerry OS, which means that in the three-legged race of mobile platforms in the eyes of most people, Microsoft has begun to fall.
