The Xbox One does have three operating systems, but the truth is: one is a full version of Windows 8, one is a stripped-down version of Windows 8, and the third is a real-time operating system that is the main operating system. Let's take a look: Xbox One games and apps do run on Windows 8. We recently received the slides and audio files of Frank Savage's presentation at the Build 2014 conference, and noticed something that many news outlets didn't say. Xbox One runs Windows 8, and the games and apps that run on Xbox One run on a full Windows 8 and a stripped-down version of Windows 8. So it's all about Windows 8. First layer: the main operating system is a real-time operating system that controls the Xbox One's hardware and resources. In the words of Frank Savage, it "has everything, knows how everything works, has the CPU and GPU." This is the most basic system of Xbox One, but this system is only responsible for task management and security, not for running any games or applications. It also runs two other operating systems, one is a full Windows 8 system without Hyper-V, and the other is a unique and streamlined Windows 8 system. The second layer: shared partition system This is actually a complete Windows 8 system, but it is just a virtual machine. This is a partition instead of a virtual machine, and all DirectX drawing requests go directly from here to the main system without going through the second layer. Basically, Xbox One is an x86, x86-x64 architecture machine. As Frank Savage said: Any game runs equally well on Xbox One and Windows 8.
