The iPhone 6 will be extremely thin and light. The specific thickness is still uncertain, but it will definitely be less than 7 mm, and it is expected to be close to the 6.1 mm iPod touch. However, this requires extremely high technical requirements, and problems are almost inevitable. According to the supply chain information obtained by Taiwan's "China Times Electronic News", Minebea, the Japanese backlight module supplier of iPhone 6, has encountered yield problems and is eager to change the product design and re-verify. However, iPhone 6 has been decided to be mass-produced in July and launched in September, and it is obviously impatient. Fortunately, Apple did not put all its eggs in one basket. There is another Japanese supplier OMRON, and Taiwan's Ruiyi, especially Ruiyi, which may supply in advance. Ruiyi entered the iPhone supply chain for the first time this year through LG Display and was able to enter the smartphone backlight module market. Now, Minebea's troubles are Ruiyi's opportunities, and it may get about 5% of its revenue from Apple this year. However, Ruiyi said that it had not heard of this news and would not comment on a single customer or a single product. iPhone 6 still uses In-Cell embedded touch screen, and the panel suppliers are still LG Display, JDI and Sharp. However, due to the requirement of lighter and thinner, the incremental film (BEF) in the backlight design was reduced from two pieces to one, which increased the difficulty of backlight module assembly. Minebea could not catch up with the first batch of production.
