Matchmakers are very popular, with income increasing by 259%

The latest third-quarter financial report released by Jiayuan.com shows that in the third quarter of 2014, Jiayuan.com achieved a net income of RMB 161.6 million, a year-on-year increase of 25.5%. Among them, the one-to-one matchmaking business contributed RMB 49.5 million in revenue, a huge increase of 259% over the same period last year, accounting for 30.6% of the total revenue.

In the third quarter, Jiayuan.com's net profit was 2.9 million yuan, a significant decrease from 17.6 million yuan in the same period of 2013 and 11.9 million yuan in the previous quarter. The financial report explained that the year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter decline in net profit was mainly due to the company's investment in more sales and marketing expenses in 2014 to further enhance brand awareness. In the third quarter, Jiayuan.com's sales costs, sales and marketing expenses, administrative expenses, and R&D expenses increased by 62.3%, 28.1%, 27.0%, and 12.8% year-on-year, respectively.

Wu Linguang, CEO of Jiayuan.com, said that in the third quarter of 2014, 70% of users logged in through mobile terminals. Based on this, Jiayuan.com redesigned its product to make it more suitable for mobile terminals, and is expected to re-release it next month. Different from Jiayuan.com's traditional "letter + timeline" model, the new Jiayuan.com APP will draw on the advantages of WeChat and Momo, allowing users to not only meet but also chat and date through the Jiayuan.com APP. In addition, functions such as interest groups and friend circles can be realized, and a virtual gift charging model will be introduced.
