Apple TV's new remote control: Equipped with a touchpad and only two buttons

Beijing time, May 5th morning news, according to the New York Times report, people familiar with the matter revealed that the new generation of Apple TV set-top boxes will use a new remote control to enhance the user's operating experience through the touchpad.

The New York Times said that the new remote control will still retain two buttons, which may represent "Menu" and "Play/Pause" respectively, but better navigation can be achieved through the latest touchpad. The previous three generations of Apple TV all used four-way control buttons, and the latest touchpad design will simplify the operation process, but the thickness may increase slightly, which may be close to the remote control of Amazon Fire TV.

Apple is expected to launch a new version of Apple TV at its developer conference in San Francisco next month. According to BuzzFeed in March, the product will be equipped with its own App Store and will support Siri. But what is really expected is the Internet TV service that Apple will provide through this product.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year that Apple was in talks with content makers to offer a bundle of channels including ABC, CBS and Fox for $30 to $40 a month. HBO last month launched a similar service called HBO Now for $15 a month.

Apple's developer conference will open on June 8, when it is likely to show new versions of iOS and OS X. Apple's new streaming music service and Apple Watch development tools may also be unveiled at the same time.
