Apple has sent out invitations to its new product launch event in October 2014. It’s been a long time since we last saw it!

Apple officially sent out invitations to the media on Wednesday, confirming that it will hold a new product launch event on October 16 (US time) (1:00 a.m. Beijing time on October 17) at Town Hall, Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California. In addition to the most likely iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, we can also see from the invitation that other series of products are likely to be updated.

First of all, the invitation is very simple, and the overall lines are consistent with the invitation of iPhone6 conference. But the slogan is "It's been way too long", which seems to imply that some product lines that have not been updated for a long time will have new products. After browsing Apple's product line, we found that iPhone 6 has just been updated, iPad series is also updated once a year, and iPod series has not been updated for more than two years. The latest iPod nano 7 and iPod Touch 5 were updated in September 2012, and iPod shuffle 4 has not been updated for six years since it was launched in 2008. Moreover, from the invitation, we can see that Apple LOGO also uses colored lines, which is also very consistent with the multiple color versions of iPod series products. Therefore, new iPod series products are very likely to be unveiled at the conference.

Secondly, in the Mac series, the small desktop computer Mac mini and the all-in-one computer iMac have not been updated for two years. However, sources said that it is not appropriate to release new Mac mini and iMac now. The reason is that Intel's next-generation Boardwell processor will not be available on a large scale until early next year. If Apple launches a new Mac mini and iMac, it is unlikely that they will be equipped with Boardwell processors, but the previous generation Haswell processors are now popular and can hardly be called a performance highlight. Moreover, if the iPad, iPod, and Mac series products are updated at the same time, the new products will be too crowded and not in line with Apple's style, but the possibility of release cannot be ruled out at present.

Finally, it has been rumored for a long time that the official version of OS X Yosemite will be unveiled at this conference, and its beta version has been released for a long time, so it is not impossible for it to be released this time. If this is the case, it is also possible that Apple will release new Mac mini and iMac products equipped with the new system.

In short, it is almost certain that the two major series of new products, iPad and iPod, will be unveiled at the new product launch conference on the 16th. As for whether the new Mac mini and iMac will be unveiled, we can only wait and see on the day of the launch conference.
