On the morning of December 18, Apple reminded developers on Wednesday that existing software applications logged into the App Store must be upgraded to 64-bit support before June 1 next year. In addition, Apple once again reminded that after February 1 next year, all newly submitted software applications must support 64-bit, and recommended that developers use the iOS 8 software development kit to build related applications. For existing apps, developers have six months to prepare to upgrade existing apps to support 64-bit. All improvements must be made before June 1 next year, otherwise they will be removed from the Apple App Store. The official recommendation is that developers use Xcode's default "standard architecture" compilation option as much as possible, so that the application can be compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit. Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 5s, the first smartphone with a 64-bit processor. However, since the processor only supports 64-bit mode, 32-bit applications need to be translated and run, which invisibly causes performance loss. So Apple reminded developers in October this year that new iOS apps will fully support 64-bit after February 1 next year. Now the reminder is also urging developers to evolve to 64-bit as soon as possible. Currently, Apple devices include iPhone 5s/6/6 Plus, iPad Air/Air 2/mini 2/mini 3, etc. |
