New record! App Store sales hit $1.1 billion in two weeks during holiday season

Apple today announced that the 2015 holiday season had once again set a new record for App Store revenue. The new record was set between Christmas and New Year’s. Apple announced that the App Store had total sales and in-app purchases of $1.1 billion in the two-week period. “The 2015 holiday season for the App Store set a new record again,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

We’re thrilled that customers are downloading and enjoying apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. The App Store generated $20 billion in revenue for Apple last year. We’re grateful to all the developers who are creating innovative and exciting apps.”

Currently, Apple has paid $40 billion to developers worldwide. The App Store was launched in 2008, and Apple said that the iOS application ecosystem has created 1.2 million jobs in Europe and 1.4 million jobs in China.
