Even Google Play Store can’t tell the difference between real and fake WhatsApp

Even Google Play Store can’t tell the difference between real and fake WhatsApp

Let me tell you a shocking news: a pirated software appeared in the Google official store and has been downloaded millions of times. This incident also indirectly proves the unreliability of the Google store, which claims to protect genuine products but was slapped in the face by pirated products.

A Reddit user downloaded a pirated version of WhatsApp and found something was wrong with it, so he decided to check the authenticity of the software. The pirated software was very realistic and very similar to the genuine software.

(Left is pirated WhatsApp, right is genuine WhatsApp)

Reddit user DexterGenius decompiled the pirated WhatsApp software and found that it had built-in advertising elements. After downloading the pirated WhatsApp, users will automatically download an apk for the second time (of course, this apk is the final rogue thing).

The apk downloaded for the second time does not even have a name. Editor's interpretation: The author of this pirated software is too deceiving his boss. The workmanship is crude and he cuts corners. He is definitely not a qualified hacker.

At first glance, the pirated software appears to be developed by WhatsApp, but a closer look reveals that it is not. A blank area is deliberately hidden behind the name of the author of the pirated software.

At present, this pirated software has been removed from the Google Play Store, but I believe there should be some other pirated software in it. Users are advised to be cautious when downloading.
