China Mobile takes drastic measures to eliminate WeChat! The new version of Fetion offers free data traffic

Some time ago, China Mobile started the "recovery plan" for Fetion, and the amount of public bidding reached 83.9 million yuan. Combined with the foreseeable future promotion expenses and the marketing expenses of regional companies, the total investment is bound to exceed 100 million yuan.

At the 2017 Mobile Global Partner Conference, it was clearly stated that the new version of Fetion (also known as "Fetion") will be officially launched in December. You can initiate "multi-person calls" and "multi-person videos" without adding friends.

China Mobile sees WeChat as its biggest rival, so it will achieve differentiated competition with WeChat. On the one hand, the new version of Fetion will transform from individual users to corporate customers, and on the other hand, new features such as "scheduled messages" will emerge in an endless stream.

The most ruthless thing is that the relevant packages are available for inquiry. Judging from the package content, Fetion*** will charge a monthly fee of 5 yuan. At present, it is only for short number cluster network users and group network users in the initial stage, and no separate traffic fee will be charged.

It is reported that China Mobile is also internally studying the "no monthly rent, no data fee" model. It is said that the top management prefers this model, and if nothing goes wrong it will be promoted in the second quarter of 2018.

Let's take a look at WeChat's former rivals, such as KiK, the pioneer of this type of software, and Xiaomi's Mi Chat, which were launched earlier than Fetion. But Tencent had a huge traffic advantage, and in the early days it also directed traffic through mobile QQ, which made WeChat popular all of a sudden.

Although Yixin, a collaboration between NetEase and China Telecom, and Laiwang, a startup created by Jack Ma, are aggressive, they pose no threat to WeChat. Now those two apps are almost dead, and Jack Ma has turned to DingTalk, which caters to corporate clients.

Let's look at Fetion, which claimed to have 500 million registered users in its early days, when Nokia Symbian phones were all the rage. WeChat hadn't been born yet, and Fetion and Mobile QQ were fighting fiercely, each carving up the mobile instant messaging software market.

Now that Fetion has made a comeback, it is unknown whether it can activate the 500 million "dormant users" on its books. Since Fetion accounts are mobile phone numbers, if it can pry open these old users, then Fetion may really pose a certain threat to WeChat.
