Last year, Microsoft first introduced the function of downloading system images from the cloud in the Windows preview version, so that when you cannot access the desktop and do not have a ready-made installation USB flash drive on hand, you can reinstall the system online. According to foreign media reports, a similar feature has also appeared in the iOS 13.4 beta that Apple is testing. The code shows that Apple is developing a cloud-based system recovery (OS Recovery) function, which may allow iPhone/iPad to deploy a clean system directly from Apple's server without connecting to a PC or Mac when it is unable to run, completing the so-called reinstallation or flashing operation . In addition, (OS Recovery) even allows system migration by connecting another iPhone/iPad device via USB, which seems to take into account various tricky situations where the device cannot be powered on.
Unfortunately, since it is still in the development stage, this feature is not yet available, and it is uncertain whether and when it will be launched. Foreign media pointed out that in addition to iOS, Apple Watch and HomePod also urgently need such a function because they have no external interface and can only be sent to the Apple Store for repair if they break. In addition, a bolder guess is that the cloud OS recovery function is also a stepping stone for Apple to create a hole-free iPhone in the future. |
