Today, Amap announced that the new version V10.80 released recently has launched AR walking navigation for Android, which supports most Android phones.

Together with the iPhone version that was recently launched, Amap’s AR walking navigation has now basically covered all models, providing users with more intuitive and accurate real-life navigation services.

Judging from the official screenshots, walking AR navigation can provide navigation prompts on the real-life scene. In addition to the conspicuous arrow pointing, there are also street names and distance prompts, and a thumbnail map below to assist, which solves the pain points of previous walking navigation that was not accurate enough and easy to get lost.

It is understood that AR walking navigation uses visual recognition, which can intelligently identify the surrounding environment such as the road surface, and truly and organically integrate AR signs into the real environment. It will not change due to the movement of the mobile phone camera, and can provide users with more accurate direction guidance.

After turning on AR walking navigation, users can automatically turn on the camera by raising their phone and enter AR navigation mode. They can see intuitive arrow signs such as turning, going straight, turning and destination on the real road picture. Users can simply follow the arrows, which greatly reduces the cost of reading the map.

At the same time, AR navigation is displayed together with the traditional 2D map screen, providing multiple display methods to help users understand the current navigation route and location.
