WeChat: After May 20, it will no longer provide the mini program to open the App service, which has received a lot of complaints from users

Recently, WeChat Open Community issued a notice announcing that it will no longer provide "Mini Program Open App Technical Service" after May 20, 2021.

WeChat said that WeChat Mini Programs provide developers with technical services to open apps, hoping that through reasonable applications by developers, it can provide WeChat users with a better user experience. While the platform encourages Mini Programs to provide high-quality content and services, it also pays great attention to the smooth user experience within Mini Programs.

Recently, we have received a large number of user complaints that during the use of mini programs, the normal usage process was blocked and the users were directed to jump to the app. This situation seriously affected the user experience of mini programs . In addition, the relevant function design is easily considered by users to have incomplete support for mini program functions, when in fact developers are abusing interface capabilities and restricting the normal usage process of users.

The above behavior violates Section 5.15 of the WeChat Mini Program Platform Operation Guidelines and is considered an abuse of interface capabilities. WeChat Mini Programs should use the various functions, interfaces, and capabilities provided by Tencent in a legal, compliant, proper, and good faith manner. When using them, they should follow the relevant WeChat Mini Program agreement rules, protect the legitimate rights and interests of WeChat users and other third parties, and comply with Tencent's requirements and suggestions for WeChat Mini Programs. You may not abuse, improperly use, or use the above functions, interfaces, capabilities, etc. by yourself or assist others in doing so.

In order to optimize the user experience, the platform will no longer provide "Mini Program Open App Technical Service" after May 20, 2021. To avoid affecting the mini program's online services and user experience, developers are requested to make development adjustments to the mini program in a timely manner to avoid affecting the service process after recycling.

WeChat Mini Programs hopes to provide users with a complete and smooth user experience. We hope that developers will reasonably apply various functions, interfaces and capabilities to jointly maintain a good user experience.

Violation example 1: In the following figure, the user is watching a video normally, but after operating the page, the user is prompted to jump back to the app, affecting his/her ability to continue watching the video.

Violation example 2: In the picture below, the user is directed to open the app while browsing product reviews, which affects his or her ability to continue browsing the product page.
