CNNIC report: The number of 5G mobile phone connections reached 365 million

On August 27, China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) released the "48th Statistical Report on the Development of China's Internet", which showed that as of June 2021, the scale of Internet users in my country reached 1.011 billion, an increase of 21.75 million from December 2020, and the Internet penetration rate reached 71.6%, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from December 2020. As of June 2021, the scale of mobile Internet users in my country reached 1.007 billion, an increase of 20.92 million from December 2020, and the proportion of Internet users using mobile phones to access the Internet was 99.6%, basically the same as in December 2020.

As of June 2021, the number of IPv6 addresses in my country is 62,023 blocks/32, an increase of 7.6% from December 2020. As of April 2021, fiber-optic broadband users accounted for 94% of my country's total, Gigabit optical networks covered more than 120 million households, and the end-to-end user experience of fixed broadband reached 51.2Mbps. According to data from international speed measurement agencies, my country's fixed broadband speed ranks 18th among 176 countries and regions in the world, and its mobile network speed ranks 4th among 139 countries and regions in the world.

Specifically in terms of 5G, as of June 2021, the number of 5G mobile phone terminal connections of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 365 million, a net increase of 166 million from December 2020. The proportion of 5G mobile phone shipments in total mobile phone shipments is increasing. In the first half of 2021, domestic mobile phone shipments reached 174 million, a year-on-year increase of 13.7%, of which 5G mobile phones accounted for 128 million, a year-on-year increase of 100.9%.

The report shows that my country's 5G commercial development has achieved three major leaderships in scale, number of standards and application innovation. As of June 2021, my country has opened a total of 961,000 5G base stations, and 5G networks have covered all prefecture-level cities, more than 95% of county areas, and 35% of township areas across the country. As of May 2021, the number of 5G standard essential patent declarations accounted for more than 38%, ranking first in the world; there have been more than 9,000 5G application innovation cases. 5G is rapidly integrating into thousands of industries and presenting thousands of forms, and has formed a systematic leading advantage.
