From October 28, 2021, the issuance of third-generation social security cards and electronic social security cards will be promoted nationwide.

According to the report, insured persons can enjoy the simultaneous receipt of an electronic social security card when applying for a physical card. One physical card and one electronic card make it easy to receive and convenient to use.

Users can apply for electronic social security cards through multiple channels such as bank apps, WeChat Pay, and Alipay.

The third-generation social security card has added a "contactless" function, as well as public service functions such as small-amount quick payment, transportation, library book borrowing, annual card for civil servants, card swiping at tourist attractions, and support for the issuance of subsidies for the benefit of the people and farmers, enabling one card to be used for multiple purposes across the country.
