The Cannes Film Festival cannot be held as scheduled and may be postponed to the end of June or early July!

On March 20, the Cannes Film Festival officially issued an announcement stating that due to the new coronavirus epidemic, "this year's Cannes Film Festival cannot be held as scheduled from May 12th to 23rd." It is not yet known whether Cannes will be postponed or cancelled this year. The organizing committee said it is still trying to hold the event and there are multiple options, but there is no definite statement yet. The first option now is to simply postpone it to the end of June or early July, without changing the venue and still holding it in Cannes.

It is reported that this is the first time in the history of the 72nd Cannes Film Festival that it cannot open on schedule. Previously, in 1968, Cannes was suspended during the May 1968 strike movement in France.
