Don't buy this kind of bird! Someone has been caught

The mynah bird, which can imitate a variety of melodies and has a clear and loud voice, was once a caged bird of many bird lovers. But did you know that the mynah bird is now a national second-class protected animal and buying and selling it is against the law.

Recently, a man from Guanyao, Nanhai District, Foshan City was arrested by Nanhai police for buying and selling mynah birds.

In February 2021, Fu saw someone live-streaming a sale of mynah birds on a social networking platform. Because he likes birds very much, Fu sent a private message to the anchor to find out more. He was then pulled into a chat group.

In April 2021, he saw someone in the group post a video claiming to sell a mynah bird, so Fu added him as a friend and bought it for 2,000 yuan. Soon, Fu received his beloved mynah bird by express delivery.

"Pick it up in Shishan, Foshan. If you like it, please send me a private message." After a few months, Fu got tired of raising the bird and wanted to sell it, so he posted an advertisement online to sell the bird. At the same time, the police found the information about the sale of the bird online and traced it to Fu.

On February 16, 2022, police officers from the Guanyao Police Station of the Nanhai Public Security Bureau arrested a suspect named Fu in a factory in Guanyao, Nanhai, and seized a live bird. On February 21, the Judicial Appraisal Center confirmed that the bird that Fu was going to sell was a myna, a national second-class protected animal. Upon questioning, Fu confessed to the crime of endangering precious and endangered wild animals. It is reported that after receiving the myna, Fu had searched the Internet for relevant information and learned that it was a national second-class protected animal, but he continued to raise it and intended to sell it.

The police reminded that in the newly implemented "National List of Key Protected Wild Animals", caged ornamental birds such as mynah birds, thrushes, larks, etc., which have a traditional breeding history in the past, have been upgraded to national second-level key protected wild animals, and their capture, transportation, and sale are all illegal.
