World Meteorological Day丨What should you do if you receive a weather warning?

Today (March 23)

It is the 62nd World Meteorological Day

The theme of this year's World Meteorological Day is

“Early warning, early action”

Affected by geographical location, topography and landforms

and climate characteristics

There are many types of meteorological disasters in my country

Wide geographical distribution

High frequency of occurrence

The heavy losses

More than most countries in the world

at the same time

Extreme weather occurs frequently around the world

Climate change is already evident

More intense heat waves, droughts and wildfires

It is still vivid in my mind

therefore

Early warning systems are a powerful tool for adaptation

We urgently need

Improving forecasting and early warning capabilities

Improve the platform and mechanism for issuing early warning information

Open up the "last mile" of early warning information dissemination

On July 1, 2021, my country's new generation geostationary meteorological satellite Fengyun-4B successfully acquired the first batch of high-precision and high-efficiency visible light observation images. The picture shows the first image of the geostationary radiation imager.

Fengyun-4B allowed people to clearly see the minute-level changes of the "wind and clouds" with their naked eyes for the first time, and also realized the desire of "quickly checking where there is a disaster."

There are several levels of warning

This 3-meter-long picture

Let us introduce you to meteorological disaster warning signals!

When you encounter extreme weather

What are the meteorological disaster warning signals?

What should I do after receiving a weather warning?

Just look at these pictures and you’ll understand!

In the context of climate change

Extreme weather, climate and water events in many parts of the world

It is becoming more frequent and intense

We are more than ever

are more vulnerable to multiple related hazards

These hazards themselves

Population growth, urbanization and environmental degradation

And constantly changing

By 2030

We hope to see a world where:

All countries

Especially the most vulnerable countries

More resilient to extreme weather, climate, and water

and other socio-economic impacts of environmental events
