I'm already full, so why can't I control my mouth?

There are two things that are difficult for humans to control themselves to stop.

One is to stop missing someone, and the other is to stop eating.

We generally have two attitudes towards eating. One is to just taste it briefly, and the other is to eat without stopping.

If you only try a little, it may be because you have a poor appetite or don’t like this kind of food, or even more extreme “excuse” - I want to lose weight…

But why can’t you stop eating?

Let me tell you an example that happened to me.

This afternoon, everyone didn’t know what to eat, so my colleague suggested going to McDonald’s.

I thought, that's fine, so we went, and the situation was like this:

"These fries are so delicious, wait, I want the last portion!!"

"But this is the third time you've said it, and look at your stomach. I can see through your clothes that it doesn't want to eat anymore..."

"But my brain tells me it's still edible"

“No wonder my weight has been increasing so much recently (whispering)”

However, we cannot blame people for being too greedy, because this is related to the brain. When people enjoy delicious food, the brain will secrete a hormone called dopamine.

The first secretion is when food enters the mouth, and the second secretion is when it enters the stomach. However, if the second secretion comes too late, it will delay the brain from sending the "full" signal.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that signals excitement and pleasure.

Let's look at an experiment: Researchers invited 12 volunteers to taste a delicious milkshake.

Scanning the volunteers' brain waves revealed:

The volunteers' desire for the milkshake was proportional to the first dopamine secreted by the brain when they ate the milkshake; however, the more the volunteers desired the milkshake, the later the second dopamine secretion came.

This may be a bit confusing for you, so keep reading.

For example, you walk into a noodle shop and order a bowl of beef noodles.

After you place your order, from the time the store starts making the beef noodles to the time they serve them, during this process, your desire for beef noodles has reached its peak.

Finally, when the beef noodles are served, the color, aroma and taste impact your brain. At this time, your brain secretes dopamine for the first time and reaches a peak.

Then you start eating noodles. The noodles in this restaurant taste very good, and you also like beef noodles very much, so you finish them quickly.

At this time! Your stomach feels full, but! Your brain doesn't think so, it still wants to eat...

So... "Boss, another bowl please."

The second bowl is served soon, but after you take two bites, you feel like you can’t eat any more because at this time, your brain has finally received the “distress signal” from your stomach and intestines. As a result, the second dopamine secretion is delayed, and your brain also sends out a “full” signal.

You...finally stopped.

In fact, it doesn’t matter whether your stomach is full or not. What matters is whether your brain feels full.

During the process of eating, the first secretion of dopamine reflects our subjective desire for food, and it is precisely this desire that blinds the brain and suppresses the second dopamine secretion induced by the gastrointestinal tract.

The second dopamine secretion induced by the stomach is actually a signal of "fullness", and secretion too late will cause people to overeat, and then you will get fatter and fatter...
