The reporter learned from the Datong County Media Center on the 18th that from 22:25 on August 17, Datong County, Xining City, Qinghai Province, suddenly experienced heavy rainfall, which triggered mountain torrents, caused mudslides, and diverted rivers. 6,245 people from 1,517 households in 6 villages in 2 towns were affected. After further search and rescue verification, as of 12:00 on the 18th, 16 people had died and 36 people were missing (previously reported 4 deaths and 27 missing people, after search and rescue confirmation, 2 people were rescued, 12 new deaths, and 23 new missing people).
