As the main body of the cold wave moves southward, starting from the night of November 29, some areas in the south will experience a transition from rain to snow, and many places may see the first snow of this winter, and some areas will also experience freezing rain.

Before the main body of the cold wave moved southward, there was already widespread rainfall in the south . According to Hu Xiao, chief meteorological analyst at China Weather Network, on November 28, the precipitation in the southern region was mainly dominated by warm air, with high precipitation intensity and accompanied by strong convective weather. Starting from November 29, the cold air moved southward rapidly, and the south turned into stable precipitation at or after the front, and the precipitation intensity weakened. However, as the temperature drops, some areas in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River will experience a transition from rain to snow, and many places may see the first snow of this winter, and some areas will have freezing rain.

The transition from rain to snow will mainly take place from the night of the 29th to the 30th . Hubei, Hunan, Anhui, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and other places are expected to see the first snow of this winter. Taking Changsha as an example, the rain may turn into sleet from the night of the 29th to the early morning of the 30th, and the daytime weather on the 30th will be mainly sleet, which may be the first snow of this winter, about 20 days earlier than usual. In many places along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the first snow usually falls in late December. This time, the first snow arrived significantly earlier, even earlier than some northern cities such as Beijing and Jinan.

In addition to the above areas, many places across the country are experiencing rain and snow .

The cold wave will not only bring a sharp drop in temperature to most parts of China, but also bring widespread rain and snow to central and eastern China . Since November 27, many places in Northeast China have experienced heavy snowfall, and the eastern part of Northwest China, Huanghuai, Jianghan and other places have also seen a change from rain to snow .

Specifically, parts of Hexi, Gansu, northeastern Inner Mongolia, southern Heilongjiang, most of Jilin, and northern Liaoning will have light to moderate snow or sleet , among which parts of northeastern Jilin will have heavy snow. Parts of southern Liaoning, eastern Jianghan, northern and eastern Jiangnan, and northern Fujian will have moderate to heavy rain, among which Liaodong Peninsula, central Jiangxi, and northwestern Fujian will have local torrential rain.

On the night of November 28, Henan Province was cloudy , with light rain in Xinyang, Zhumadian, Nanyang, Zhoukou, and Shangqiu, with moderate rain in parts of Xinyang; light rain turned to sleet or light snow in Sanmenxia, ​​Luoyang, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Xuchang, Luohe, and Pingdingshan, with moderate to heavy snow in parts of the western mountainous areas . On November 29, the whole province was cloudy, with light rain turning to light snow in the east and south; sleet turned to light snow or scattered light snow in other counties and cities.
