China Science and Technology News, January 12 (Jin Xi) As the Spring Festival approaches, many people have started their journey home. The crowds of people and the hardship of traveling, coupled with the poor air quality in a sealed space, will inevitably lead to various discomforts. Recently, a 57-year-old man took a train from another province to Wuhan to celebrate the Spring Festival. He sat for 6 hours without moving. As a result, he felt swelling and pain in his left leg as soon as he got off the train. Later, he went to the hospital for treatment and found that deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs and pulmonary embolism had occurred due to long-term sitting, which almost endangered his life. Long-distance bus, train or plane rides, long periods of sitting, little water intake, and low humidity in the car can easily lead to slower blood flow and blood viscosity, especially poor venous blood return in the lower extremities, which can easily increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis in the lower extremities. Therefore, when taking a long-distance train or bus, it is best to get up and move around every hour or so. If there is limited space in the car and you cannot walk around, you can do more sewing machine movements, flexion and extension, and rotation of the ankle to promote blood return; at the same time, pay attention to drinking more water, which helps dilute the blood and prevent blood viscosity from forming thrombi. During the Spring Festival travel rush, people spend a long time on the road going home. Listening to music, watching TV series, and playing games have become the main ways of entertainment. However, wearing headphones for a long time may cause hearing loss, tinnitus, ear pain, dizziness and other symptoms. In order to avoid these situations as much as possible, do not wear headphones for too long. It is best to take off the headphones and take a break every half an hour. The volume of the headphones should be controlled to a level where you can hear others talking to avoid excessive stimulation to the ears. Motion sickness is the most common condition we encounter. Whether it is a train or a plane, long-term bumps, nervousness, physical discomfort, excessive fatigue, etc. can cause motion sickness. If you often get motion sickness, you should get enough sleep the night before departure, don't eat too much, and try to eat some easily digestible and not too greasy food. If necessary, take motion sickness medicine half an hour in advance or stick sliced ginger on your belly button. Some people choose not to drink water because of the crowds on the train. Try to hold back when you want to go to the toilet, as this will increase the risk of urinary tract infection and is an important risk factor for prostatitis. It is best to go to the toilet before getting on the train. If you feel like urinating on the train, you should go to the toilet even if the train is crowded. |
