China Passenger Car Association & CAM: Passenger car market product competitiveness index is 91.1 in November 2020

The Automobile Market Research Branch of the China Automobile Dealers Association (Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee, referred to as the Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee) and Shanghai Fulan Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. ( CAM Automotive Consulting) jointly released the " Product Competitiveness Index " with the aim of building a mature product evaluation standard, studying the factors affecting product competitiveness, and gaining insight into market trends.

The " Product Competitiveness Index " is an index that quantifies product competitiveness by building a product competitiveness index system based on four dimensions: user reputation, market popularity, product evaluation, and price strength. The larger the index value, the stronger the comprehensive competitiveness of the product.

Index Overview for November 2020

Taking January 2019 as the base period, the overall market product competitiveness index in November 2020 was 91.1 , an increase of 0.1 point from the previous month; from the perspective of the three major market segments, sedans increased by 0.4 points month-on-month , SUVs decreased by 0.2 points month-on-month , and MPVs decreased by 1.2 points month-on-month.

Overall market product competitiveness index trend

In November 2020 , the wholesale volume of passenger cars exceeded 2.2 million units, achieving positive growth for four consecutive months both year-on-year and month-on-month. Among them, the wholesale volume and year-on-year growth rate in November both hit a new high in 2020 ; as the domestic economic environment continued to improve and driven by various national policies to promote consumption, the demand in the automobile market continued to recover; as the end of the year approached, some dealers began to rush to achieve their sales targets, and the discount intensity expanded month-on-month, resulting in a 0.3 percentage point increase in price intensity month-on-month, and driving product evaluation to increase by 0.2 percentage points month-on-month. Overall, the overall market product competitiveness increased by 0.1 percentage point month-on-month from the previous month.

Trend of product competitiveness index in the sedan market

Overall, the product competitiveness index of the sedan market in November 2020 was 91.2 , an increase of 0.4 points month-on-month. Except for the month-on-month decline in user reputation and market popularity, all other indicators have improved.

In November 2020 , the SUV market product competitiveness index was 90.9 , down 0.2 points month-on-month. Among them, product evaluation fell 0.8 points month-on-month, price strength increased 0.3 points month-on-month, and other indicators remained unchanged.

MPV market product competitiveness index trend

In November 2020 , the MPV market product competitiveness index was 91.2 , a decrease of 1.2 points month-on-month. Among them, user reputation and product evaluation decreased month-on-month, while the rest of the market heat and price strength increased month-on-month.
