China Passenger Car Association & CAM: Passenger car market product competitiveness index is 91.0 in September 2021

The Automobile Market Research Branch of the China Automobile Dealers Association (Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee, referred to as the Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee) and Shanghai Fulan Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. ( CAM Automotive Consulting) jointly released the " Product Competitiveness Index " with the aim of building a mature product evaluation standard, studying the factors affecting product competitiveness, and gaining insight into market trends.

The " Product Competitiveness Index " is an index that quantifies product competitiveness by building a product competitiveness index system based on four dimensions: user reputation, market popularity, product evaluation, and price strength. The larger the index value, the stronger the comprehensive competitiveness of the product.

September 2021 Index Overview

Taking January 2019 as the base period, the overall market product competitiveness index in September 2021 was 91.0 , down 0.2 points from the previous month ; from the perspective of the three major market segments, sedans remained unchanged month-on-month, while SUVs and MPVs both fell by 0.6 points month-on-month.

In September 2021, the wholesale volume of passenger cars was about 1.74 million units, an increase from the previous month and a decrease from the previous year. Due to the tight monetary policy in September, the consumption promotion policies in various places were not implemented on a large scale, and the shortage of chip supply led to a shortage of vehicle sources. The overall market heat fell slightly, down 0.2 points from the previous month. At the same time, the discount of some car series was reduced, and the price strength index reflecting market discounts remained unchanged, while the product evaluation index reflecting the cost-effectiveness of the product fell by 0.1 points from the previous month. Overall, the overall market product competitiveness fell by 0.2 points from the previous month.

Overall, the product competitiveness index of the sedan market in September 2021 was 91.2, unchanged from the previous month. Among them, price strength and product evaluation increased month-on-month, while user reputation and market popularity declined month-on-month.

In September 2021, the SUV market product competitiveness index was 90.2, a decrease of 0.6 points month-on-month. Among them, the four indicators of price strength, user reputation, product evaluation and market popularity all declined month-on-month.
