China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation: 2021 China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Economic Operation Report

In 2021, there were 26,947 enterprises above designated size in the petroleum and chemical industry, with cumulative operating revenue of 14.45 trillion yuan and total profits of 1.16 trillion yuan, both of which set historical records, up 30.0% and 126.8% year-on-year respectively, and an average increase of 9.0% and 40.1% over the past two years respectively.

In terms of profitability, in 2021, the industry's revenue profit margin was 8.04%, the highest level since 2010, up 3.43 percentage points year-on-year, and 1.23 percentage points higher than the national scale industry. Among them, the oil and gas extraction industry achieved a total revenue and profit of 1.1 trillion and 165.04 billion yuan, up 28.3% and 533.8% year-on-year respectively; the refining industry achieved a total revenue and profit of 4.4 trillion and 187.4 billion yuan, up 30.1% and 318.2% year-on-year respectively.
